Advanced Vehicle Scanning
Engine warning light on? Our diagnostic scanning identifies the exact fault fast — no guesswork, no unnecessary parts replaced.
Price TBC — Diagnostic fee only; any repair is quoted separately.
State-of-the-art diagnostic scanning for all makes and models. We identify fault codes, sensor issues and ECU problems quickly and accurately.
An engine management light on the dashboard can mean dozens of different things — from a loose fuel cap to a failing catalytic converter — and the only way to know which one applies to your car is to read the actual fault data, not guess based on symptoms.
We start with OBD fault code reading across the engine, transmission, ABS, airbag and other onboard systems, pulling the exact codes your vehicle's computer has logged rather than relying on a generic dashboard warning that could mean almost anything.
ECU diagnostics goes further than reading a code — we interpret what the car's computer is actually reporting, cross-reference it against live sensor data while the engine runs, and identify whether the fault is electrical, mechanical or a software issue that needs reprogramming.
Sensor and electrical fault-finding covers the oxygen sensors, mass airflow sensors, crank and cam position sensors and the wiring between them — components that are cheap individually but expensive to replace on a guess, which is why we test before we recommend a part.
When the engine management light itself is the only symptom, we clear false alarms from genuine faults by checking live data as the engine runs under load, not just reading a stored code with the engine off.
Pre-purchase inspection is a full diagnostic scan and visual check before you buy a used car — it surfaces hidden fault codes, previous repairs and wear issues a seller's description won't mention, giving you a clear picture, and real negotiating leverage, before you hand over any money.
Performance analysis looks at how the engine, transmission and emissions systems are actually running against the manufacturer's specification — useful if the car feels down on power, uses more fuel than it used to, or just doesn't drive the way it did when it was new.
A diagnostic scan takes a lot of the guesswork out of car repair, but it's only as good as the technician reading it — two cars can throw the same fault code for completely different reasons, which is why we always check live data, and where needed physically inspect the component the code points to, before recommending a repair.
Intermittent faults are some of the hardest to pin down — a light that comes on and goes off again, a car that misfires occasionally but drives fine most of the time. We log and monitor live data over a longer test where needed, rather than writing off a fault just because it isn't showing up the moment the car is on the ramp.
Diagnostics isn't only for warning lights — it's also the first step before most significant repairs, confirming exactly what's wrong before we quote for parts and labour, so you're never paying to replace something on a guess.
Because the diagnostic fee is separate from any repair, there's no pressure to find something expensive wrong just to justify the visit — if the fault turns out to be something minor, or a false alarm from a loose connection, that's what we'll tell you, and that's all you'll pay for.
We work on petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles, across the full range of makes sold in the UK — if your car has an unusual fault history or you've had an inconclusive diagnosis elsewhere, bring it in and we'll start again from the actual data rather than someone else's assumption.
We diagnose all makes and models for customers across Ipswich and East Anglia, including vans and light commercial vehicles, using the same equipment we rely on to keep our own 90+ vehicle fleet running. Book a diagnostic scan online or request an instant quote — we'll confirm the price before any work starts, and any repair we recommend is quoted separately once we know exactly what's wrong.
